The Best Shakshuka Recipe

The Best Shakshuka Recipe

An easy, healthy, fresh but most importantly DELICIOUS dish to serve for breakfast (as traditionally intended), but it is just as delicious for lunch or dinner. It’s nourishing, super easy to make and once you’ve done so I’m sure it’ll be added to your list of favourite dishes to make again and again.

The hearty and spiced tomato sauce with those jammy poached eggs, all served with a fresh slice of toast to soak up all those amazing flavours. YUMMMMMM

What is Shakshuka?

Shakshuka is a traditional Middle Eastern dish which is believed to originate from Tunisia where Shakshuka means ‘a mixture’ in dialect. And to be fair, this recipe is basically just a mixture of delicious and nutritious ingredients. This one-pan recipe allows you to soak up the delicious sauce with fresh bread and can be served in the same pan you made it in. That means fewer dishes to wash up, win-win!

There are a million variations of Shakshuka, like a green spinach shakshuka, or an orange pumpkin one. But the classic recipe is not to be fooled around with and is a must-try!

The great thing about this recipe or basically any savoury recipe is that you can spice the dish completely up to your liking. Like it spicy? Add more chilli! More of a bold flavour kinda gal? Add more spices! Little tweaks will make this recipe your own, so don’t be afraid to adjust the recipe to your liking.

How do you make Shakshuka?

There are just 5 simple steps to this recipe, which makes it so good for a Sunday brunch or healthy mid-week breakfast.

  • Dice your veggies
  • Saute your veggies & add your spices
  • Add the tomato sauce
  • Poach your eggs in the sauce
  • Garnish and enjoy!
