Caipirinha

Caipirinha cocktail

A true Brazillian classic with just 3 ingredients, the delicious Caipirinha!

Refreshing and so easy to make, this cocktail only includes three ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to make. This no-fuss cocktail contains cachaça, lime & sugar and it will definitely get the job done 🍹

The Caipirinha is super easy to make and can be constructed right in the glass. Muddling the lime wedges with cane sugar is the most important part! You want to extract all the lime flavour and muddling the wedges does not only extract the citrus’ juice, but also those aromatic, rich oils from the lime peel.

What is cachaça?

Cachaça is a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice and is a very popular spirit in Brazil. You could call it a Brazilian white rum, yet there are a few clear differences. Rum is commonly made from Molasses, which is a by-product of sugarcane. This makes cachaça and rum two entirely different spirits, despite being extracted from the same ingredient.

What does cachaça taste like?

I was lucky to have my dear dear friend from Brazil bring me a bottle of this delicious booze. Cachaça has a very fresh taste with notes of grass and a somewhat herbal note. It was truly something I had never tasted before! It is definitely not comparable to the for example white rum.

Variations on the Caipirinha

The classic Caipirinha is a cocktail not to be messed around with. Yet a commonly known variation on the cocktail is the Caipiroska, which is made with vodka instead of cachaça. Others may muddle in other fresh fruits such as raspberries, mango, pineapple or other berries. Whatever variation you choose, this cocktail will be extremely refreshing.

Enjoy loves! xx
